The Dröm Kitchen, dream in Swedish, is the highest price kitchen that we’ve ever designed for IKEA Vaughan. I gathered a lot of data amongst our customers and co-workers through surveys and polls and created this criteria for what a dream kitchen looks like for the people of Vaughan.
Lots and lots of counter space & space to entertain big families
Walk-in pantry, lots of storage & a separate coffee bar
Large appliances & high-tech appliances
Traditional all white kitchen
Large windows and lots of natural light
High end materials & finishes
Here’s how I met the criteria.
The island in the middle is a double overhang countertop and is also the biggest possible quartz countertop that IKEA sells.
The pantry is walk-in and floor to ceiling with a dedicated wine storage section.
36” induction stove & 36” fridge. Built in double oven with a separate microwave oven integrated into the island. LED smartlights for both kitchen and pantry. 40” TV in the dining area because zoom call dinner parties were essential for COVID-19 times.
Traditional white doors with black accents (because an all-white kitchen is over-done).
To top it all off: herringbone flooring, french hood tile detailing, and black quartz countertop.
